I’ve always enjoyed playing and watching any sport!

I think it’s the challenge of trying to be the very best you can be, always thinking in a positive way, never giving up, enjoying the social side and most important of all being able to participate!

I came to golf in my early 30’s. After too many injuries from football, it was time to hang up the boots and move on to a different sport, I was already playing tennis but then I caught a bug!

I was hooked from the very first time I tried to make contact with the ball! How can such a simple game be so difficult and frustrating but at the same time be so rewarding and pleasurable? I worked hard at my game and within a few years managed to get down to a respectful 5 handicap!

During this time of development, business was also heading in a good direction, my agency won the Callaway Golf Europe advertising account and with my new found passion this was the absolute dream brand to work with.

Things went well for about 5 years but I was looking for a new challenge and in 2002 set up Bandit Design to purely work as a marketing service provider to the Golf industry. Within 3 months I was working back on the Callaway Golf account. What a great opportunity it was, I got to work with Seve, Phil and all of the other top Callaway Golf players.

But then in 2005 came the biggest break ever! Working on a joint project with St Andrews Links Trust and CG I took a sample shot of a golf course with the idea of art directing a photographer to capture the shot. I wanted more than blue skies and bright green fairways, I wanted drama. I wanted a shot which would stop golfers in their tracks, which would evoke a need to play that course. Luckily for me St Andrews Links wanted the same thing and so based on the shot I provided for them they had the faith to commission me to shoot all of their courses.

Since then I’ve shot over 450 courses worldwide. I’ve made many life long friends whilst working with the top brands in the industry.

We all have a common goal and that’s trying to be the very best in all that you do!

“Put simply, Kevin is the best in the business at what he does. I have personally used him at three different venues and each time he exceeds expectation with the level of quality, creativity, variation and volume of images. His approach is fantastic – he is always willing to go the extra mile”

“We have used Kevin for 10 years and not only does he take excellent photos, he brings creative thought and advice, and adds value at every opportunity. Would recommend him to anyone.”

“We had selected Kevin Murray based on his extensive experience with shooting some of the best courses in the world. He came very highly regarded from his work at the Pinehurst Resort courses and TPC Sawgrass, which is located in our home town. Kevin was a true pleasure to work with from the start. He was prompt in his response to questions, pricing and supplying all of the necessary contractually documents we need to move forward. On-site, Kevin was gracious, hospitable and accommodating. He was on-site for three days and worked tirelessly in the early morning and late afternoon/evening to ensure we got the right shots. Post-production was especially positive. He turned around the photography within 10 days and then just 24 hours following some Club suggested edits. I had the opportunity to pass the photos to Steve Melnyk, member and former US Amateur Champion and he commented that the pictures were the best he has ever seen. Our staff and Board of Governors would concur. Kevin’s work as well as his professionalism is first class. I would highly recommend Kevin to anyone looking to create gorgeous visual images of their Club.”

Greg Sheara, CCM

“I have had the joy of working with Kevin for over 10 years and have been consistently impressed with the quality of imagery he has produced for our clients; his position as one of the most-respected golf photographers in the world is thoroughly deserved.

We have employed Kevin’s services for a variety of projects, from high profile golf course launches, equipment launches, player profiles and live event imagery, and he has displayed a professional adaptability to produce striking imagery on every occasion.

Beyond the quality of his work, he is a pleasure to work with; incredibly hard working and always keen to deliver the very best results.

He also enjoys a red wine, has a dodgy backswing and if in doubt, some new golf shoes and a bowl of haggis nachos will go a long way.”

Gary Davidson

Executive Director, Performance54

“What I feel to say to everyone, in the most sincere terms, is that your pics really make the difference, they are more paintings than photos.
And you are very careful and reliable.”

“We commissioned Kevin a few years ago when we were building a new website, and his images of Reigate Heath GC were breathtakingly good.

We made full use of them on every possible item of the club’s marketing collateral, and when a national magazine asked us for a picture and a few words for one of their Hidden Gems articles, Kevin’s image of the ninth/18th earned us the prime position and most of the double page spread, much to the annoyance of some much better known golf clubs who when they complained about a little nine hole course being given such prominence, were told it was because in the opinion of the magazine’s design studio, their pictures simply didn’t hold a candle to the one Kevin had taken for Reigate Heath. In fact, the same magazine repeated this treatment two years later in a similar feature!

So when we started to build our next website we knew where to go for the photographic imagery, and already the first few webpage proofs are demonstrating we made the right decision and that our investment and faith will be repaid for years – a point not lost on our Treasurer who can amortise Kevin’s fee for five to seven years!

The package we’ve commissioned takes care of all our holes and their back nine equivalents, landscape shots of the amazing views from our clubhouse across the North Downs and Reigate Hill, our photogenic staff, the redesigned clubhouse interiors, and so on. Everything we could need, in short.

The great thing with Kevin is the way he sees a golf course so differently from other golfers, yet produces images of holes and scenery that are both familiar and unique. They’re even better than the last set, and he’s captured the very essence of our beautiful heathland course, with the heather in full bloom and the summer colours at their best.

These images are already making us see our course in a whole new way, a way which will be even more attractive to all those thousands of visitors who will be visiting our new website in the future. Kevin’s images will help us blow away the old fashioned notions that a nine hole course isn’t a proper golf course.

And that’s Kevin skill. He paints with a camera, and changes people’s perceptions – on or offline – with the click of a button.”
